Foundational Admission
Southern Virginia University maintains clear academic standards for admission and continued enrollment. Academic benchmarks guide the initial review of each application.
Applicants with a cumulative GPA below 2.5 are reviewed through the Foundational Admission process. This review allows the Office of Admissions to consider a broader range of information related to academic readiness, including performance over time and preparation for college-level work.
Evaluation Components
As part of the Foundational Admission review, applicants are required to complete additional steps designed to demonstrate readiness for college-level work. These steps can include:
- A personal interview
- A plan for academic success
- Additional academic transcripts or documentation
- A plan for academic success
- Additional academic transcripts or documentation
- Letters of recommendation
- Evaluation by an admissions committee, as appropriate
