Senior Copywriter

Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality, engaging content, including feature stories, press releases, marketing materials, and campaign assets, to strengthen the university’s brand.
- Craft audience-focused emails and other communications that align with university initiatives and drive engagement.
- Collaborate with students, alumni, faculty, and staff to highlight achievements and stories that resonate with internal and external audiences.
- Ensure cohesive and consistent messaging across all channels—digital, print, and email—to support the university’s goals and strategic priorities.
- Work closely with the marketing team to support campaigns that align with Southern Virginia University’s long-term vision.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3-5 years of professional experience in copywriting, ideally within a communications or marketing role
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field
- Experience in higher education or nonprofit communications
- Familiarity with SEO and digital marketing tools
