Open Rank Professor of Family & Human Development

Full-time

Southern Virginia University seeks applications for an Open Rank Professor of Family & Human Development to begin Fall Semester 2026. Primary responsibilities include teaching, undergraduate advising, and university service. This position requires a strong commitment to teaching excellence in a small class environment and individual mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Teach an average of 12 credits per semester within the Family and Human Development curriculum
• Mentor and advise students effectively
• Develop and implement new courses, revise existing curriculum, and assist in the continued improvement of the Family and Human Development major

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s in Family & Human Development or similar field

Preferred Qualifications

• Evidence of teaching excellence
• Ph.D. in Family & Human Development
