Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach

Responsibilities
- Strategic Vision: Develop and implement a strategic vision for the lacrosse program in alignment with the university’s mission and values.
- Student-Athlete Development: Actively recruit, mentor, and develop student-athletes who excel spiritually, academically, and athletically.
- On-Field Coaching: Organize and oversee team practices, individual skill instruction, and game-day coaching, including offensive/defensive schemes, goalie development, and scouting.
- Team Culture: Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, integrity, and personal growth.
- Logistics & Scheduling: Schedule and manage the season’s competition schedule, including travel logistics for away games and tournaments.
- Staffing: Manage coaching staff with resposibilities during practices, competitions, recruiting and other duties.
- Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with all university, conference, and NCAA/national governing body policies and regulations.
- Operations & Budget: Oversee and manage the program’s budget and equipment
- Community Engagement: Cultivate relationships with alumni, donors, and the local community to enhance program support and fan engagement.
- Academic Oversight: Assist student-athletes in their personal and academic development, ensuring they remain on track for graduation.
- Health & Conditioning: Coordinate with athletic trainers and strength and conditioning coaches to support player health, injury prevention, and physical conditioning.
- Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Proven coaching experience in lacrosse, preferably at the collegiate level.
- Strong knowledge of lacrosse fundamentals, offensive/defensive strategies, and modern game analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, retain, and develop high-caliber student-athletes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Southern Virginia University.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to carry, pull, push, and lift equipment necessary for training and competition (e.g., goals, crease markers, ball buckets, field equipment).
- Must be able to stand for long periods and actively participate in practices and games in various weather conditions.
