Director of Library Services

Responsibilities
- Lead and collaborate with university administration, library staff, and faculty to advance the mission and strategic goals of the university.
- Direct the daily operations of library services in a collegial atmosphere that fosters teamwork and excellence.
- Provide leadership and planning for all aspects of library operations, including: Instruction and reference services Collection development Budgeting and resource allocation Personnel recruitment, supervision, and professional development Library systems and technology Archives and Special Collections Facilities maintenance and space utilization.
- Advocate for the library and its services, effectively communicating its value to students, faculty, administration, and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with teaching-focused faculty on student learning and research.
- Maintain and optimize library systems software and digital content.
- Anticipate the needs of students and faculty and allocate resources accordingly.
- Serve actively on university committees.
- Cultivate partnerships with peer institutions to expand access to shared resources.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and maintain awareness of national trends in librarianship, information literacy, and intellectual freedom.
- Mentor and advise students who are considering a career in librarianship.
- Model the university’s core values of being faithful, honest, and kind.
Minimum Qualifications
- MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution.
- A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in a library setting.
- Proven leadership ability in planning, implementing, and assessing library services and programs.
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and administration.
- Experience managing budgets, personnel, and library technologies.
- Knowledge of current trends and issues in academic librarianship.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in academic libraries.
- Familiarity with grant writing.
- Instructional experience.
- Experience in strategic planning.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods. Primarily an office/library environment with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
