Cheer Coach

Full-time

Southern Virginia University is seeking to hire a talented and motivated Cheer Coach to instruct and lead teams of students who cheer both competitively and in on-campus performances.

Responsibilities

• Choreograph unique routines and teach them to team members
• Monitor the progress of team members and vary instruction to meet the needs of individual members
• Supervise tryouts for new team members
• Plan, organize, and lead practice sessions
• Assign positions or roles to team members based on strengths and potential
• Engage, encourage, and motivate students to excel academically
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Extensive training in competition cheer
• Ability to teach a variety of cheer styles and techniques
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a cheer coach
• Previous experience in tumbling
• Bachelor’s degree and leadership experience

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to perform cheer techniques at a level necessary to instruct team members
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
