Associate Director of Communications

Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies to enhance the university’s visibility and reputation
- Create, edit, and manage content for various platforms including the university website, emails, social media, newsletters, press releases, and marketing materials
- Collaborate with students, alumni, faculty, and staff to generate compelling stories that highlight university achievements, events, and programs
- Support the planning and execution of major university events, ensuring consistent messaging and brand voice
- Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication efforts, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement
- Manage crisis communication plans and respond to urgent communication needs in a timely and effective manner
- Lead and manage communications staff, student workers, and interns
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in a communications or marketing role
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency in all communications
- Passionate about storytelling and building community
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
- Background in higher education
- Experience managing branded social media accounts
- Proficiency in using digital marketing tools and platforms such as HubSpot or Salesforce Marketing Cloud
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and experience implementing SEO strategies
- Superb judgment and decision-making ability
- Record of work ethic and motivated self-direction
- Ability to work with a variety of personalities and perspectives
