Assistant/Associate Professor – Director of Choral Activities

Minimum Qualifications
- DMA or PhD in Music (ABD will be considered) OR a Master of Music with significant equivalent experience conducting choirs at the collegiate level (all such applications will be considered)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with recruiting
- Knowledge of current best practices and trends in music education
- Diverse programming, demonstrating versatility and inclusion in repertoire selection
- Demonstrated outreach through musical collaboration within the community
- Participation in professional music organizations
- Skill in advising major and non-major students
Responsibilities
As the Director of Choral Activities, the successful candidate will oversee the choral program and teach music courses including, but not limited to, choral literature and choral conducting. Additional duties include serving as a faculty advisor, mentoring music education students, maintaining a positive rapport with high school choral directors in the state and region, and actively recruiting to SVU and the SVU Music Program.
The teaching load is 12 credits hours per semester. The position also includes university service and the pursuit of scholarly activities.
