Thomas Bell is the Assistant Professor of Mathematics
Bell graduated from college three times: 2005 – B.S. Mathematics, Brigham Young University; 2007 – M.S. Mathematics, Brigham Young University; 2013 – Ph.D. Mathematics, University of Oregon.
Bell worked as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics at BYU from 2013 – 2016.
Bell married his wife, formerly Melissa Ririe (now Melissa Bell) on August 6, 2005. As of yet, they have been married 11 years. They have no children yet, but they have a 3-year old mini-poodle named Ellie.
Bell is an Eagle Scout.
Bell is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and has served in a wide variety of callings, including Cubmaster, Ward Organist, Counselor in the Elders Quorum Presidency, Sunday School Teacher and Ward Clerk.
Bell’s hobbies include playing chess, reading, working on large jigsaw puzzles, and helping his wife with her crafts. About a year ago Bell finished a year-long project assembling a 13,200 piece puzzle. This semester he will likely finish a much larger project; he will finish reading each Newbery Award and Newbery Honor book ever written. Of course, he’ll have a little catching up to do every year when the new ones are announced.
