Marci Nelson

I fell in love with Virginia during an internship in Washington, D.C., after graduating from Brigham Young University–Idaho. The beautiful scenery, rich history, and welcoming people made such an impression on me that saying “yes” to joining Southern Virginia University felt like a “heck yes!”

One of the things I love most about SVU is that it’s a place where you don’t have to choose just one passion. You can say “yes” to athletics, the arts, leadership opportunities, and academics; you can explore what excites you while learning from professors who genuinely care about you and have the resources to help you be successful. In a Christ-centered environment, you’ll be encouraged to grow in every aspect of your life—just as the Savior did, “in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man” (Luke 2:52).

When I’m not working as an Admissions Counselor, you’ll probably find me with a good book, cross-stitching, watching or performing in musical theatre, or saying “yes” to a new adventure. I know choosing a college is a big decision, and I’m excited to help you discover whether Southern Virginia can become home for you, just as it has for me. I can’t wait to meet you!
