Biography
Anticipated Graduation:
2025Heidi Barton serves as the Senior Class President at Southern Virginia University and is pursuing a degree in Business. Dedicated to enhancing student engagement and unity on campus, Heidi is also a member of the cross-country and track and field teams. She enjoys running and values the lessons of perseverance and teamwork that athletics bring. In addition to her involvement in sports, Heidi is passionate about reading and writing poetry, which inspires her creative leadership style. She strongly believes in the power of collaboration and is committed to ensuring every student voice is heard and represented.
“Scholarships have allowed me to wholeheartedly focus on my studies without overly stressing about finances and student loans. One of my biggest goals for my undergraduate education was to graduate debt-free, and scholarships have allowed me to do that. After graduating, I can go directly into graduate school without financial burdens. This opportunity has not only helped me to engage more in my studies but also more deeply participate in campus life. I have been able to join the Student Government Association to try and enrich my campus community, a time commitment that wouldn’t have been possible without scholarships Scholarships make it possible for me and students like me to dedicate my time and energy towards my education and community, and I am truly thankful for that.
