“Education has always played a significant role in my life, I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Rheumatoid Arthritis when I was five years old which restricted me from playing sports so I worked especially hard at strengthening my mind through a well-rounded education. For me, education is more than just lectures and homework; it’s the opportunity to gain mass amounts of knowledge of several kinds. It presents opportunities to network with peers and mentors, gain experience and exposure to ideas and methods, and facilitate trial and error as a method of learning. Scholarships allow me to dedicate more of my time and energy to getting this loved education at Southern Virginia University as I attempt to better my circumstances through the life-changing experiences and benefits of a liberal arts education. Thank you for supporting me in this journey! I promise myself when I step outside my door to not just try my best but to do my best. Along with this grit ethic, each obstacle stumbling into my path might first appear to be a problem to be avoided, but seeing it as a challenge to conquer ever pushes me in my desire to boost my courage. I am so grateful to be at SVU and for the support I have received! Thank you for supporting me!”
