April Harris
Director of Student Engagement
Biography
April Harris is the Director of Student Engagement at Southern Virginia University, where she oversees Student Government, Clubs and Associations, and Student Activities. In this role, she is dedicated to enhancing the student experience by creating meaningful and memorable campus events and opportunities.
With over 10 years of experience in student life, April has served in various capacities, including Director of Housing, Director of Activities, and Co-Dean of Students. Her career at Southern Virginia University began in 2015 as a coordinator for the Dean of Students, where she supported student government and new student orientation. She has been an integral part of the university’s Student Life team ever since.
A native of Virginia, April and her husband, Jason, are college sweethearts who have raised their four children in Rockbridge County since 2003. When she’s not on campus, April manages a small hobby farm with her family, which includes beautiful Highland cows. She is also known for her good cooking, cool dance moves, and her charming Southern accent.
