Biography
Adam Cubbage was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, where he excelled in baseball and tennis and earned multiple Division I scholarship offers. Although he initially planned to attend the University of Georgia, he chose to enroll at SVU to play baseball and prepare for service as an LDS missionary. He later served in the Panama City, Panama Mission. After returning, Adam completed his undergraduate degree in Business Management at SVU while playing No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the men’s tennis team. Since graduating, he has built a career in the sports and entertainment industry as well as commercial banking and finance, working with some of the most recognized names and brands in sports. As a VP Underwriter and Analyst at a private commercial bank, he and his team support businesses across a range of industries and oversee a financial portfolio with an approximate aggregate value of $650 million. Outside of work, Adam is a passionate sports fan. Since 2011, he has written independently about sports and the business of sports. In 2016, he launched and began hosting the Because of Sports Podcast, a sports and culture show featuring guests such as ESPN’s Mina Kimes and Field Yates, as well as TNT Sports’ Taylor Rooks. He also enjoys traveling with family and friends. Adam met his wife, Amanda (Cowan) Cubbage (’13; B.A. in Art, minor in Political Science), while attending SVU, and they were married in Newport Beach, California. They have twin daughters and now live in Orange County, California.
“SVU has impacted my life in so many positive ways. When I was presented the opportunity to help with the organization and highlighting of our alumni base I couldn’t pass that up.”
