Mission Statement

Southern Virginia Esports is a gathering place for like-minded students. By pairing Southern Virginia’s Code of Honor with esports we provide a safe and wholesome environment for students to do what they love as part of a team and a community.

We understand that participants in the esports program are, first and foremost, students and disciples. Our program is structured to help students manage their time and facilitate spiritual, social, and academic development. As teammates serve in leadership roles they learn to effectively communicate with others and grow as leader-servants. During practices, students work to enhance problem-solving and critical thinking to prepare for competition and the classroom.

When our students leave Southern Virginia, they will be better prepared for whatever they choose to pursue. Through hard work and dedication, they will feel confident in their ability to overcome life’s challenges. The skills they develop such as critical thinking effective communication, and prioritization of what is most important will qualify them for opportunities to come.

Meet the Esports Directors

Student Director

My name’s Michael Daniels. I’m a gamer, born and raised. I’ve had the privilege of working in many different industries over the years ranging from hospitality to automotive to tech, but here at Southern Virginia University, I’ve been given the opportunity to pair my love for video games with my passion for entrepreneurship by launching a new esports program here on campus. I am excited to build a gaming community in an LDS environment and to help fellow gamers follow their passions.
