Esports

Southern Virginia Esports will launch in Fall 2018 as our new official university-sponsored esports association.

About Southern Virginia Esports

An LDS Gaming Community

The purpose of Southern Virginia Esports is to build a community where gamers can do what they love and find friends who share their passion all in a wholesome Latter-day Saint environment. We’re creating a space where gaming, academic goals, and Mormon values can all support each other.

League of Legends

For the 2018-19 academic year, Southern Virginia Esports will sponsor teams to play League of Legends. Teams will have regular practice and compete against other college teams. If you’re interested in playing other games, let us know. We will add other games as the esports association grows over the next few years.

Join Our Team

We’re looking for current and incoming students with the potential to meaningfully contribute to our culture of wholesome competition, social engagement, academic achievement, and Mormon values. To apply to join Southern Virginia Esports, submit your cover letter and gaming résumé to esports@svu.edu.

Submit a brief résumé-style list of your gaming experience. This should include (1) any games you play, (2) any game stats that can demonstrate your skill level, and (3) public usernames or other information that can be used to look you up and verify your stats. You can also optionally submit any footage of your gameplay.

Meet Your Program Coordinator

My name’s Michael Daniels. I’m a gamer, born and raised. I’ve had the privilege of working in many different industries over the years ranging from hospitality to automotive to tech, but here at Southern Virginia University I’ve been given the opportunity to pair my love for video games with my passion for entrepreneurship by launching a new Esports program here on campus. I am excited to build a gaming community in an LDS environment and to help fellow gamers follow their passions.
