Learning and pedagogic activities should be guided by the principle of creating a safe environment that is interactive and collaborative—which promotes problem-solving and fosters critical thinking skills. I chose an academic career because I want to develop new knowledge through research that is globally relevant, as well as contribute to my field and society by providing quality teaching to students to be nationally sustainable and responsive to societal needs. I am therefore fascinated with Southern Virginia University’s mission statement.
