University Development Lead

Southern Virginia University is seeking a motivated and talented professional to lead its fundraising efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Fundraising experience, especially for an NPO
  • Prior leadership and management experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior social intelligence and interpersonal abilities
  • Data experience, including systems, management, and reporting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Sales management and leadership experience, especially in higher education

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work closely with university president to lead university fundraising efforts
  • Plan, implement, and oversee strategic fundraising program designed to raise $20M annually
  • Identify and secure sources of funding through long- and short-term donors and foundations
  • Manage development team including activity of gift officers; optimize day-to-day operations
  • Proactively manage relationships with key donors and stakeholders, including regular travel
  • Execute annual giving campaign(s) and special fundraising-related events
  • Create accurate and regular financial and giving reports
