Open-Rank Professor of Technical Theatre

Southern Virginia University seeks applications for an open-rank Professor of Technical Theatre starting in the Fall of 2024. Major responsibilities include teaching, development of curriculum, undergraduate advising, and development of theatre productions.

The ideal candidate will have a proven teaching record including evidence of effective teaching in small classes. Beyond teaching, core responsibilities include overseeing the technical elements of annual productions, managing part-time crew/stagecraft students, student mentorship, and collaboration with supportive faculty and staff. Minimum of an M.A. in Theatre or related field is required, preferred candidates will hold an MFA. Candidates with experience in technical direction, sound design, lighting, or with extensive industry experience are encouraged to apply. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
