Open-rank Professor or Technical Director of Theatre

Southern Virginia University seeks applications for an open-rank professor or technical director of theatre to begin as soon as possible. Responsibilities may include providing technical direction for productions, designing scenery and lighting, supervising set construction, teaching courses on stagecraft and scenic design, and mentoring student designers.

An MFA in theatre design or applicable industry experience is preferred. University teaching experience and expertise in CAD are also preferred. Strong organizational abilities, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative outlook are required.

This is a full-time, open-rank position. Applications should include a letter of interest addressing the desired qualifications and the university’s mission (see below) as well as any evidence of teaching effectiveness, a resume/CV, at least two letters of recommendation, and a portfolio.
