Open Rank Professor of Exercise Science/Kinesiology

Southern Virginia University seeks an open-rank, full-time faculty member in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field. The ideal candidate will be able to teach and develop course(s) fulfilling the Health and Wellness requirement as part of the Core curriculum for all SVU graduates. They will demonstrate excellence in and passion for student learning. A Ph.D. or equivalent is required.

The typical teaching load is four courses per semester. Course enrollments are capped around 25 students, and the ideal candidate will be adept at working with and advising students of various experience and academic preparation, as well as serving in committee assignments with academic colleagues.

Relevant experience, innovative teaching, and a strong commitment to student learning are preferred. In addition to Health and Wellness courses, the faculty hire will also be responsible for scheduling the Physical Education classes. The faculty member will also work closely with the science faculty and have opportunities to develop exercise science/kinesiology courses and/or teach courses that will help develop students in the pre-health concentrations and minors. Southern Virginia University emphasizes excellence in teaching, but the candidate should also continue in scholarly development and contribution.
