Instructor of Writing

Southern Virginia University invites applications for a full-time visiting position in Writing at the Assistant Professor or Instructor level. This posting is for a one-year appointment, with possibility of renewal, to begin August 2022.

To be eligible for this position, candidates must have, at minimum, a master’s degree in English or Writing. Preference will be given to candidates whose MA or Ph.D. studies focus on rhetoric and composition.

Southern Virginia seeks a candidate to teach basic writing and freshman composition that feature a rhetorical writing curriculum. Expertise and teaching experience in basic writing or professional writing is of particular interest. Applicants will teach four courses each semester during the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters. Prior teaching experience, relevant professional experience, and a strong commitment to student learning are highly valued. Additional responsibilities may include committee work and academic advising.
