• Instructional Services Librarian

    Southern Virginia University seeks applications for a full-time Instructional Services Librarian starting in the Fall of 2023. The Instructional Services Librarian provides a variety of professional library services to patrons: creating, delivering, and assessing research instruction; coordinating with faculty members; and assisting in training the student-based reference team.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program
    • Creativity, initiative and interest in innovative approaches to library instruction, reference, and research assistance
    • Strong understanding of pedagogy and best practices in information literacy
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Effective time and organizational skills, with the desire and ability to work both independently and as a member of a collaborative team
    • Desire to mentor and foster skills in undergraduates

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience delivering research instruction in an academic setting
    • Knowledge of instructional and multimedia technologies
    • Experience establishing and assessing instruction program learning outcomes
    • Demonstrated knowledge and application of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education
    • Knowledge of the Library of Congress Classification system
