Open Rank Teaching Position in Family and Human Development

Full-time

Southern Virginia University seeks applications for an Open Rank Professor/Instructor of Family and Human Development, to start work in the fall 2025 semester. Main responsibilities include teaching, developing curriculum, undergraduate advising, and university service. We are also open to applications for part-time teaching as an adjunct instructor.

Responsibilities
  • Teach FHD 210 Marriage and Family and FHD 310 Family Process.
  • Instruct introductory and upper-division FHD courses based on the candidate’s expertise and program needs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate training in Family and Human Development or a related field.
  • Teaching experience in Family and Human Development.
  • Evidence of effective teaching in small classroom settings.
  • Experience mentoring students, developing courses, and revising curriculum.
  • Commitment to ongoing improvement of the Family and Human Development major.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Family and Human Development, Psychology, or a closely related field.
  • Master’s degree candidates in the same fields will also be considered.
