Responsibilities
- Network Infrastructure Management
- Overall Network Health: Maintain and update the university network to ensure secure and sufficient internet resources for all students, administration, faculty, and staff. This includes managing device updates and equipment replacement.
- Firewall Administration: Update firewall software, maintain network policies, monitor security logs, and manage internal interfaces, VLANs, IP addresses, and VPN access (including IPsec tunnels).
- Wireless Network Management: Update wireless controllers, maintain certificates, troubleshoot Wireless Access Points (APs), monitor and manage client access, coordinate AP installations and upgrades, and assist with Radius network policies.
- Switch Operations: Apply security updates, assign VLANs to ports, backup configurations, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and manage switch replacements and transfers.
- Cabling Projects: Coordinate the installation of Fiber Optic and Ethernet cabling across campus.
- Vendor Relations: Work with outside vendors to secure competitive rates for internet services.
- Audio/Video Systems & Event Support
- A/V Equipment Maintenance: Maintain all audio and video equipment across the university, including classroom spaces, residence halls, and offices. This involves ensuring TVs and Apple TVs are functional and updated.
- Event Setup & Execution: Oversee the comprehensive setup, execution, and cleanup for various university events, ensuring they run smoothly.
- Event Coordination: Coordinate with other departments for weekly Forums and facilitate a wide range of other events throughout the semester (e.g., Commencement, dances, movie nights, concerts). This includes managing audio/video equipment needs (microphones, video walls, soundboards, projectors) and coordinating with student/part-time staff.
- Audio Equipment Management: Maintain diverse audio equipment for events, including various microphones, soundboards, cables, and portable speaker systems.
- Video Equipment Management: Manage video walls, install and troubleshoot classroom TVs, update Apple TVs, and maintain video projectors.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience in network administration, including protocols, security, and hardware (firewalls , switches, APs); or a strong foundational knowledge coupled with a demonstrated capacity for rapid learning in a technical environment.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing key network services (VLANs, VPNs, etc.), or the demonstrated ability to quickly develop such proficiency through training and on-the-job application.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues, including network connectivity.
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining and operating audio/video equipment, especially for live events and in an academic setting.
- Familiarity with a variety of audio and video equipment, including microphones, soundboards, projectors, and streaming devices.
- Excellent organizational and logistical skills, with an ability to manage priorities for both long-term projects and time-sensitive events.
- Ability to adapt to last-minute changes and work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on customer service.
