Director of Admissions

Full-time

Southern Virginia University is seeking a Director of Admissions to lead the university’s recruiting efforts and enrollment strategy in alignment with our mission. Reporting to the Executive Director of Strategic Enrollment, the Director will be responsible for developing and executing recruiting strategies, training admissions counselors in best practices, and analyzing the recruiting funnel to drive results.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the admissions team in recruiting over 500 new students annually
  • Provide training in sales techniques, compliance, and university values
  • Develop and maintain admissions policies and procedures
  • Monitor team and individual performance metrics to ensure goal achievement
  • Utilize data dashboards and reports to monitor funnel performance and drive strategic decisions
  • Collaborate with university departments including but not limited to marketing, financial aid, registrar, athletics, student life, and academic programs to optimize recruitment and onboarding efforts
  • Plan and manage admissions events, including open houses, off-campus trips, and virtual sessions
  • Occasional travel, and evening or weekend work as needed to support recruitment goals
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • 3+ years of professional work experience (preferably in admissions, marketing, or sales)
  • 2+ years of experience managing high-impact teams
  • Ability to meet goals and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in higher education recruiting or sales
  • Leadership experience
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce, Slate, HubSpot, or Adobe
  • Master’s degree
