Assistant Baseball Coach (Pitching)

Southern Virginia University invites applications for the position of Assistant Baseball Coach. This role supports the Head Baseball Coach in leading a Christ-centered, values-driven NCAA Division III program committed to developing student-athletes of character, faith, and purpose. The successful candidate will assist in all facets of the program, including recruiting, player development, practice planning, scouting, and game preparation, with a strong preference for experience working with pitchers.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Coach in all aspects of program leadership and daily operations.
  • Coordinate pitching staff development and individualized training plans.
  • Recruit student-athletes who are committed to the mission and values of Southern Virginia University and NCAA Division III athletics.
  • Support the spiritual, academic, and athletic development of student-athletes.
  • Organize and participate in practice planning, game-day preparation, and strategy.
  • Assist with video analysis, scouting reports, and opponent preparation.
  • Manage administrative tasks including compliance, travel, and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit student-athletes aligned with SVU’s mission.
  • Commitment to fostering a Christ-centered team culture.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Collegiate playing or coaching experience (especially with pitchers).
  • Strong understanding of NCAA Division III philosophy.
Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to carry, pull, push, and lift equipment necessary for training and competition.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and actively participate in practices and games.
