This year, spend your Thanksgiving in The Big Apple! Marvel at the Statue of Liberty, a live Broadway performance, and the spectacular masterpieces in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. See the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in action and don’t miss a chance to visit the beautiful Manhattan New York Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Lodging & Food

Students will stay in a tourist-class hotel and will be provided breakfast daily.

Travel Arrangements

Students will travel to New York City by Southern Virginia vans and will travel in the city by public transportation.


Program Fees

Program fees include all transportation, lodging, one meal daily, and all entrance fees for planned excursions. Students are responsible for two meals a day and any personal expenses.

There are no additional tuition fees for full-time students enrolled during the fall semester. Remember, students with 56 credit hours at Southern Virginia are eligible for a $400 voucher that can be applied towards the cost of the program!

How to Sign Up

Register for HUM 175R through MySVU. Your student account will be billed for the trip and can be paid directly through MySVU.

Nov. 25 Depart Buena Vista in school vans, check in at hotel, and see a Broadway play
Nov. 26 Visit the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and enjoy a special group dinner at Ellen’s Stardust Diner
Nov. 27 Visit the Statue of Liberty and the LDS Temple
Nov. 28 Visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art and depart home for Buena Vista
