Southern Virginia University has crafted a model for providing high-quality education at competitive rates in an uplifting environment. Our ideals appeal to anyone who is interested in a top-notch education in a welcoming environment.
Southern Virginia strives to provide students with an environment that is welcoming and wholesome while encouraging high standards of behavior and integrity. Our commitment to an LDS environment entails an appreciation for the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and helps create a comfortable and respectful campus.
As the workforce becomes more competitive, the ability to think analytically and communicate effectively are becoming increasingly crucial. A liberal arts education with one-on-one attention from professors and intimate classes enables students to cultivate these skills and others that will make them versatile, capable contributors in their field of choice and in the world at large — all while providing them with the extraordinary opportunity to study everything from Plato to botany.
Because of the small size of liberal arts universities and the scope of the education provided, a liberal arts education tends to be more expensive than others. However, Southern Virginia tries to make excellent education and experience as accessible as possible. We offer numerous scholarship opportunities based on a variety of merits and a competitive tuition in order to make this possible.
Extracurricular activities are an important part of a complete and rewarding college experience, and athletics are one of the most popular extracurricular activities at Southern Virginia. Our athletic history includes nearly 40 small college national championships, and we now have 15 varsity teams and the opportunity to play in NCAA Division III sports. Southern Virginia is the only D-III school with an LDS environment.
