New York Public Relations Firm CEO to Speak at Forum April 10

Stephen H. Coltrin, founder and CEO of Coltrin & Associates, Inc., a strategic communications and public relations firm in headquartered in Manhattan, will speak at a Southern Virginia University forum Friday, April 10, at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Activities Center.
Coltrin founded Coltrin & Associates, Inc. in 1982. Under his guidance, the firm became recognized and trusted for its counsel to global brands. Among the firm’s major successes, was the dramatic turn around and successful conclusion of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. In his book “Turnaround” Governor Mitt Romney credits Steve Coltrin for the communications strategy that helped restore credibility to the Salt Lake games.
Coltrin is an expert in crisis communications. He has helped major companies communicate through difficult situations like multiple plant closings, union strikes, labor disputes, energy disasters and more.
Coltrin received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brigham Young University. He began his professional career in the pharmaceutical industry in 1970. His responsibilities included serving as product manager and media activities manager for Burroughs-Wellcome. Coltrin produced some of the first medical information programs in the U.S. and pioneered spokesperson training in the pharmaceutical industry.
Among his most recent achievements is the work he has provided for Governor Mitt Romney, and the Truce Foundation of the United States. He also served as director of Eastern public relations for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Coltrin currently serves as a vice chairman on the board of directors for the International Radio and Television Society Foundation, on the National Advisory Board of America’s Freedom Festival at Provo, on the Advisory and Advancement Council of the Utah State University Journalism & Communication Department, and a member of the board of directors for Advanced Aesthetics, Inc.
Local community members and Southern Virginia faculty, staff and students are invited to join the university community each Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Activities Center to hear from devotional and forum speakers.
