On Saturday, Apr. 22, Southern Virginia University will host its 5th Annual Knight Run — a five-kilometer evening race through downtown Buena Vista. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are all invited to participated in this fun annual tradition.
“The Knight Run is a celebration of another successful academic year,” said Kristie Gibbons. “It’s an opportunity for students, faculty, staff and the community to say goodbye and show appreciation to our graduating seniors.”
Registered participants can begin picking up their participant packets on race day at 12:30 p.m. in the Stoddard Center. The 5K race will begin at 6 p.m. on Chandler Field — the route can be viewed online at MapMyRun.com. Just before the 5K, there will be a free Kid’s Run for children ages eight and under at 5:30 p.m. on Chandler Field.
Immediately following the Knight Run, students from Southern Virginia’s Multicultural Club will present an authentic Polynesian Luau on Chandler Field with a variety of shows and booths. The Luau will include an all-you-can-eat buffet dinner with prices outlined below. Attendees may want to bring blankets and lawn chairs for additional seating.
Southern Virginia Alumni and Friends of the University throughout the country can also participate in our Knight Run Virtual Race by running or walking a 5K anywhere anytime. Virtual Race participants should register online to receive an official Knight Run shirt. Racers can share photos and videos on social media using the hashtag #KnightRun2017.
With the goal of promoting fitness and uniting the community, the Knight Run is one of Southern Virginia’s most exciting events and annual traditions. Come ready to race and have on Saturday, Apr. 22.
