Southern Virginia University invites applications for a full-time continuing-status track position in design, to begin August 2018. The appointment may be at the assistant or associate professor level, depending on qualifications. Candidates should have a master’s or PhD in a design field by August 2018, as well as significant professional experience in design. Field of specialization may be in one of several design-related fields, including graphic design, interactive design, art direction, digital illustration, or videography, but candidates must also have a strong grasp of visual culture in general.
Southern Virginia seeks design faculty who can develop a new program in design, tailored to the needs and interests of students and prospective students. Southern Virginia’s design program will build upon a strong core curriculum in the liberal arts and sciences, but will aim to prepare students for professional design careers. Relevant professional experience and a strong commitment to student learning are required. Southern Virginia emphasizes excellence in teaching. Other responsibilities include academic advising and student recruiting.
Southern Virginia University is a four-year residential liberal arts college that provides a rigorous undergraduate education primarily to faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
