Education Professor

Southern Virginia University invites applications for a full-time position in education to begin August 2017. Responsibilities include: teaching Foundations of Education, The Exceptional Learner and other courses as needed; managing fieldwork experiences; serving as a liaison to the local K-12 education community; supervising student teachers; advising and mentoring students; and serving as a licensure program administrator.

Qualified candidates should have a PhD or EdD in education and K-12 teaching experience. Candidates who have middle and secondary teaching experience and also special education experience are especially encouraged to apply.

Teacher Education at Southern Virginia University offers endorsements in elementary, middle, and secondary education. Southern Virginia University operates as part of the Rockbridge Teacher Education Consortium with Washington and Lee University.

Southern Virginia University is a four-year residential liberal arts college that provides a rigorous undergraduate education primarily to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Candidates are not required to be Latter-Day Saints, but are encouraged to comment on their familiarity with and support for the University Mission Statement in the letter of application.
