Southern Virginia University invites applications for a biology lab coordinator. Candidate will have a minimum of Master’s Degree in a biological science. ABD and PhD candidates also encouraged to apply. Main duties are to inventory, order and organize lab materials; prepare solutions and pour agar plates; set up labs for several courses; clean up and ensure proper waste disposal; management and training of undergraduate TAs; minor equipment repair and maintenance. This position will require close coordination and communication with the instructors of those courses. Must be flexible and communicate effectively. The ideal candidate will also recommend new lab experiments for students in these courses or ways to improve existing experiments. Preference will be given to applicants that have experience teaching introductory biology labs (experience teaching labs and lecture a plus for possible part-time teaching assignments).
