Tony Caputo is an admissions counselor, assistant athletic director and the head men’s basketball coach at Southern Virginia University.
Caputo came to Southern Virginia in 1998 as director of continuing education. Before coming to Southern Virginia, Caputo taught primarily American history and physical education for 14 years in three different Utah school districts. During that time, Caputo successfully coached several varsity sports, helping three different men’s basketball teams reach the state championship game.
Caputo graduated in 1984 from then Weber State College with a B.A. in history and was recognized as the outstanding physical education minor that year. In 1998 he received a master’s degree in education from Southern Utah University.
He served a fulltime mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Scotland.
Caputo resides in Buena Vista with his wife, Tammy. They have four children.
