Scott Samuelson, a volunteer visiting professor, teaches college composition, English literature, and book arts. Having had at 30 plus-year career teaching at Ricks College/ BYU-Idaho, Scott and his wife of forty-seven years, Shauna, felt the spirit of SVU and decided to come here to serve. Scott’s doctoral dissertation, entitled Poetry and Religion in T. S. Eliot, illustrates much of his academic interest. His poem, “Baby Jesus’ Song” was once read on National Public Radio. His artist books, most of which contain his letterpress printed poetry as well as his watercolor or relief printed images, have been juried into shows from Idaho to New England, from Utah to Alabama. The Samuelson’s have eight children and thirty three grandchildren. Scott loves teaching. His students seem to him to be more children and grandchildren to love and serve.
