Dr. Batis joined the faculty at Southern Virginia University in 2017. Prior to this, he taught at Indiana University Kokomo for 4 years, and at other universities for an additional 9 years. The courses he teaches include General Psychology, Addictions, Behavioral Neuroscience, Sensation and Perception, Cognition, Statistics, and Research Methods.
Dr. Batis earned 2 Bachelors degrees from Utah State University (’02; Psychology, Liberal Arts & Sciences), with a minor in Russian. His graduate degrees (M.A., Ph.D.) are from Wayne State University’s Psychology Department (Behavioral and Cognitive Neurosciences area). He has extensive graduate training in statistics and psychopharmacology.
Dr. Batis has been a member of the LDS Church his entire life. He served a mission in St. Petersburg, Russia, where he met his future wife, Rebecca. They have been married for 17 years and have 5 children.
