Carrie Brotherson is the travel study program director and the director of first year experience at Southern Virginia University.
Brotherson joined the faculty in 1999. Her bachelor’s and master’s degrees were in English with an emphasis in poetry. She taught English composition at Brigham Young University from 1986 to 1989. From 1989 to 1991, she taught English composition and research writing at Utah Valley State College. In 1992, she taught English composition and research writing to second language students at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. From 1992 to 1998, she taught English composition, developmental English, and introduction to literature at Piedmont Virginia Community College in Charlottesville, Va.
She and her husband, Todd, live in Buena Vista, Va. with their three daughters.
