Amy Roskelley is the Lead Videographer at Southern Virginia University.
Amy joined the communications team in summer 2016 after completing a Masters degree in Media Literacy Education. Her research focuses on gender performance in genre films, specifically masculinity in romantic comedies. Her undergraduate degree in film led to a love of screenwriting. She has written and produced multiple short films and has had her scripts presented at University Film and Video Association conferences as well as such film festivals as Final Cut and Sundance. She is currently working on several feature length screenplays that explore gender equality within genre constructs.
Before coming to Southern Virginia, Amy taught introduction to film classes as Brigham Young University, ran media literacy programs for at-risk youth, and worked in marketing for a tax software company. A native of Lynchburg, VA, Amy is excited to get back to her roots. She and her massive collection of romantic comedies currently reside in Lexington.
