During the summer of 2013, Southern Virginia made the jump to NCAA Division III athletics. The Division III Philosophy Statement, which places “the highest priority on the overall quality of the educational experience” is a perfect fit for the university’s commitment to developing the whole person.
After moving to the Division III ranks, Southern Virginia made school history on July 1, 2013 by joining the Capital Athletic Conference — one of the premiere DIII conferences on the East Coast. All Southern Virginia teams compete in the CAC, except football which is a member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference. For updates, visit cacsports.com.
With twenty NCAA Division III varsity sponsored sports — ten men’s sports and ten women’s sports — there are plenty of opportunities for our student-athletes to compete on the court or field.
Southern Virginia students are known as the “Motivational Elite.” They are competitors, doers and strivers. As proof, nearly half of all students compete on one of our 20 NCAA DIII athletic programs.
