A successful legal education builds upon fundamental skills and knowledge acquired as an undergraduate. Southern Virginia provides a rigorous liberal arts education that prepares students for law school by teaching them to think critically, analyze and interpret information, research effectively, write clearly, and develop concrete arguments.
The Southern Virginia Core Curriculum provides all students with a transformative intellectual experience that engages them in the classroom and helps them to develop as individuals. In addition to the Core, students preparing for law school can take suggested preparatory courses and choose from a number of relevant majors including liberal arts, business management and leadership, and politics.
At Southern Virginia, all students interested in law school can receive individualized pre-law advising to help them determine which law schools are right for them and prepare for law school as well as the Law School Aptitude Test. Our students often have an advantage when applying to law schools because their professors know them personally and can provide insight during the application process and write detailed letters of recommendation.
