The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)—the oldest, largest and most prestigious accreditor of colleges and universities in the southern United States—today reaffirmed Southern Virginia University’s regional accreditation for the next decade through 2027.
Southern Virginia University professor Dr. David Cox’s new book, “The Religious Life of Robert E. Lee,” recently hit the shelves. Published by Wm. B. Eerdmans, the book is part of an ongoing series on American and British historical figures, titled, “The Library of Religious Biography.”
Southern Virginia University President Reed N. Wilcox recently announced that Dr. Scott Dransfield will serve as provost, the chief academic officer of the university. Dransfield is joined by Drs. Jeremiah John and Karen Walker, who will serve as associate provosts.

At the final forum of the 2016- 2017 academic year, this year’s scholarship recipients, graduating seniors and missionaries were recognized for their outstanding achievement. President Reed N. Wilcox also delivered a devotional address that highlighted what students should retain from this year.
On Saturday, Apr. 22, Southern Virginia University will host its 5th Annual Knight Run — a five-kilometer evening race through downtown Buena Vista. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are all invited to participated in this fun annual tradition.
